What to Do First

Once you have made a decision to build your new home, the finance needs to be organized. This means getting quotes for everything. Your builder may organize the cooling and heating as part of their contract or it may be additional, like your driveway. Either way you need those quotes.

 

Select a reputable company

Yes, like Climax. Check their reputation, look at testimonials and make sure they have all that you may require. There should be someone in the office to answer your phone call, sales people to discuss your requirements and prepare the quote, installers and service technicians. You want the company to look after your system with periodical maintainance but also if there is a warranty issue.

 

Visit them

or at least talk to them to discuss your requirements and your plans on how your home will be used. Take your house plans with you or email them through. This should be followed with a quotation.

 

What to consider

Do I want both heating and cooling? Do I want to cool/heat the whole home? Which rooms will be in use often? The Company will also ask you a lot of questions.

 

Home under construction

Ducted air conditioning or gas central heating is often installed while the home in under construction. Installing the equipment and duct in the roof space before the home is gyprocked makes the installation easier and saves possibly taking some of the roof off later. Your builder will need to agree to this.

 

Home complete

If the installation didn’t take place during construction, it is best to be installed after the builder has handed the home over to you but before you move in.
